Getting fitted for a breast form

In most cases, about six weeks following mastectomy surgery, you are ready to be fit with a breast form. To find a breast form and post-breast surgery bra that is right for you, visit a shop that specializes in post-surgery products.

Look for a warm, caring environment with an experienced Certified Mastectomy Fitter. It is important to get a prescription from your physician prior to your fitting. Call ahead for an appointment, to make sure a certified fitter is available.
Plan adequate time, about two hours, for discussing all your options with the fitter. The fitter should offer a private area where you can discuss your options and try on bras and breast forms.
Wear or bring along a well-fitted, favorite garment so that you can see how the breast form will look under your favorite clothes.
